Steve Winnick - Owner & Head Coach

Steve is the founder and head coach of Winn Baseball in San Diego, where he leads youth teams across different age groups, emphasizing not just skills on the field but the character, teamwork, and grit that comes with great baseball. He’s deeply invested in developing young athletes into strong players and good people.

Before coaching, Steve played professionally. He was drafted by the New York Mets out of Point Loma Nazarene in the 31st round of the 2010 draft. He pitched for a couple of seasons in the Mets’ minor league system, logging a 5-2 record and a 3.25 ERA over 43 games. That experience gives him real credibility when he’s coaching young players; he’s been through the grind himself.

Steve was an All-State player in high school and played collegiately at both the University of San Diego and Point Loma Nazarene University as a two-way player at shortstop and pitcher. During his college career, he won two West Coast Conference championships at USD and helped lead Point Loma Nazarene to two NAIA World Series appearances, finishing 2nd and 3rd nationally. He was drafted by the New York Mets in 2010 and played professionally from 2010–2012.

His coaching experience includes managing teams at Sweetwater Valley Little League since 2018, serving as an assistant varsity coach at Calvary Christian from 2018–2020, coaching with Grind Baseball from 2021–2023, and providing private pitching and hitting instruction from 2022–2025.

Krissy Winnick - Owner & Director of Baseball Operations

Krissy Winnick is the co-founder and co-owner of Winn Baseball. As the operational leader behind the program, Krissy ensures every aspect of Winn Baseball runs with excellence, from scheduling and communication to tournaments, team coordination, and overall player support across all teams from 7U through 18U.

Krissy brings organization, dedication, and heart to the Winn Baseball community. She is the driving force behind the scenes, managing the details that keep practices efficient, coaches prepared, and players set up for success. Her commitment to building a positive, family-focused environment has helped shape Winn Baseball into more than just a program - it’s a thriving community where young athletes can learn, grow, and love the game.

Dave Palet - Head of CA Bears

Dave Palet is a highly respected baseball coach known for his passion for player development, leadership, and helping athletes prepare for the next level both on and off the field. In 2010, Coach Palet founded the CA Bears organization, building a program centered around competitive baseball, accountability, and long-term player development. Over the years, the CA Bears became known for helping athletes advance to high school, collegiate, and professional baseball opportunities.

As the Head Coach of the CA Bears program and Varsity Baseball Coach at Bonita Vista High School, Coach Palet has helped guide numerous players to continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level. His coaching philosophy centers around preparing athletes for high school baseball, college recruiting, and life beyond the game through hard work, baseball IQ, and strong team culture.
